A white Florida man who instructed detectives that he was irritated by individuals who illegally park in handicapped spots might be sentenced within the deadly capturing of an unarmed black man outdoors a comfort retailer.
A sentencing listening to is scheduled Thursday within the case of 49-year-old Michael Drejka in Clearwater. A jury discovered him responsible of manslaughter in August. He faces as much as 30 years in jail.
In July of 2018, Drejka confronted Markeis McGlockton’s girlfriend for parking in a handicapped area whereas McGlockton went inside a comfort retailer along with his 5-year-old son. Safety video recorded McGlockton leaving the shop and shoving Drejka to the bottom. Seconds later, Drejka pulled out a handgun and shot the 28-year-old McGlockton as he backed away.
