A slain Alabama sheriff is being remembered as a devoted peace officer who beloved serving the folks of his county.

Greater than 2,000 mourners stuffed an auditorium Monday for funeral companies for Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams. Williams was shot and killed Nov. 23 at a gasoline station.

Typically often known as “Big John” for his towering body, audio system described the 62-year-old sheriff as a selfless regulation enforcement officer who confirmed respect to everybody.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor stated Williams “was going to do everything in his power to help you.”

Taylor stated when a name for regulation enforcement help got here in that evening, Williams took it himself like he had “thousands of times.”

U.S. Sen. Doug Jones stated Williams was preserving the peace in Lowndes County “until his last breath.”
